Alvernia

ALVERNIA

Alvernia is a region located in the center/south of France.

It is the smallest department of France but is famous for the high number of inactive vulcans.

The track i have followed went trought the “Parque des Vulcans de Auvergne” actually from “Clemont Ferrand” untill “Albi”.

Must stop “Le Mont Dore” the highest vulcan you can climb by a train that gives you the chance to get the most beautiful view of the park.

Alvernia surprised me a lot, it’s a mix of forest, small villages where the time seems to been stopped years ago, and old vulcans, nowadays are no longer in activity which makes this region so awesome.

We recomend to have a break there and just enjoy a couple of hours away from the bike for have a walk around and get the pleasure of the landscape.

I’ve been on August that is one of the busiest months of the year for vacation, but still i had the peasure sometimes to end up in places where i was the only one and enjoy nature and silence.

Streets i cruised were really nice and enjoyable, asphalt were in a good conditions and the off road part is not difficult at all, just watch out cause is possible meet some animals along the way.
